Classroom teachers will check-in with families where 3 or more absences have occurred irrelevant of explanation

LPS parents expectations:
-
Parents are required to enter a Compass attendance note, per student, per day of absence
-
Students must be signed in late via the office to ensure the attendance roll is adjusted
-
Students must be signed out early via the office to ensure the attendance roll is adjusted
-
Students are expected to be at school from 8:50am for a 9am start of the day
-
The school day finishes at 3:30pm with students being collected no later than 3:45pm
-
Students are expected to return to school after a partial day eg. District Athletics and/or after a medical/dental appointment
-
We encourage parents/carers to access their child’s Compass profile on a regular basis to keep track of student attendance data. See the progressive attendance grid
Ways to encourage attendance:
-
Strengthen your daily routine to attend school on time
-
Celebrate special events eg. birthdays, after hours and/or weekends (not during school days)
-
Encourage school attendance everyday eg. if your child is not attending camp, they still go to school
Supports:
If your child is experiencing a high rate of absenteeism (eg. extended illness or refusal) there are supports available. Contacting the school sooner rather than later is in the best interest of keeping students engaged in their learning and hopefully back at school as soon as possible. Please contact the school if support is required on 03 8768 6700.
Useful information:
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for
a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school. There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes.
